Sunrise and Virginia Beach
chronograph ~ 2017-08-18This was a freaking day. Finally getting settled together. We began in Ocean City Maryland and ended in Virginia Beach. Read about the day and look at pics!
Ocean City
I nudged us to watch the sun rise so we woke at 5:30am. Shuffled over to Ocean City and walked the boardwalk a bit. It was a cute little beach city. The inlet was small so not a lot of room for expansive commercial crap.
On our way out we stumbled across a large docked sail ship boat floaty thing. Despite it being closed we went up anyway. Took a few pictures before an employee kicked us out.
Onley
We took a brief stop here. Originally planning a run it turned merely into a coffee grab. But gosh did we stop at the right place. This was the coolest spot for coffee I've seen. It had an old bank vault and a mini library with upper floor seating. I wish I had a place like that to go to regularly.
Chesapeake Bridge and Tunnels.
This was amazing. 17.6 miles of bridge, two of them tunnels. At some points it felt there was no land to be seen. Isolated on these freakish structures jutting from the water our only option is to keep moving.
Virginia Beach
is cute. It's two mile boardwalk is not overbearing or too small. Despite the tall buildings hotels resorts it still feels homey due to the layout of the roads. Residential stuff is very very close to the water as well. I cruised the boardwalk for a bit, and spoke with an information person.
Next, we went to the ocean! I swam. In the ocean! With a bathing suite and all tucked up nicely and I had no anxiety. NONE. I played and laughed and enjoyed myself with water in a way I haven't since I was a kid.
After passing out and cleaning up we went out for pizza and beer. Our waitress was so nice and thought we were dating. We got a good pizza and a relaxing meal. We've done well to not over spend on food so far. And while the night sleeping was rough in humid 70+ air and rain, we weren't woken up by humans or ticketed. How luck I found a spot like that so quickly and so close to the water.
