Today was a clean day. Plus a small performance.

Oh yes, laundry, shower, clean dishes. Prepping myself to get on the road for a couple days.

I chose the best spot in a parking lot, with the best shade, protecting from the sun. This morning may have been the first time I woke up and forgot where I am. I wonder what that means.

I put myself together after pills and coffee and went to the coin laundry place. Something in me is content, so I just went at it. After I got everything in the machine, I decided to play my violin.

Drawing a crowd

The side of the building was still shady, the end of this small strip mall plaza sits next to a car dealership. My intent was to play through my songs, without real warmup because I know getting through most of them would get me past the washing portion.

After a couple of songs, people from the dealership started coming out and standing a good fifty feet away in the shade, still on their property, to listen. This time I was not mistaken that people came to watch.

By the time a small group of them gathered to listen, I was off playing, a simpler song, and then my favorite song. But since I didn't do a good breakfast, I could play no longer. Hunger and shoulder pain prevented me from playing well and confidently.

I would look over after the song and a couple people would silent clap and I'd nod. But it showed me something about drawing a crowd while busking.

I should start by playing my goofy short fun warmup pieces. Like my video game music, and really easy classical pieces. Once a crowd gathers I can go off into the fun, exciting, challenging songs.

I'm sure I've read this before, however having experienced it now first hand really slapped me across the face. Getting more confident about hoping to busk soon.
